Corona Alpha4 Renderer for 3DS Max

By on March 18, 2013 in 3DS Max Plugins, Autodesk 3DS Max, News with 8 Comments

I want to give everyone a heads up that there is a new rendering engine on the scene that looks very promising. It’s called the Corona renderer. It’s fast, flexible, very easy to use and best of all it’s free!! Time is money and we all have precious little of both. This bad boy will make quick work of your scenes. The build is still in alpha but they’re making improvements and updating it all the time. It would definitely be worth a minute of your time. Head on over to their website to check it out after you check out a couple of the images I created using it below.

    • dave says:

No problem. Open zip file > full speed > your version of max > drop files into max root folder ie: c:\program files\Autodesk\3ds Max Design 20xx\

The example renderings on the Corona website are amazing. How does Corona compare to mental ray? Does Corona create even more realistic shadows/reflections/etc.?

    • dave says:

JD, Corona produces renders that ARE comparable to Mental Ray. It is limited in its functionality of what it can render (particles/proxies not yet supported). I wouldn’t say the shadows/reflections are MORE realistic but they are AS realistic for sure. The developers are working like mad and update the software often.
