Measure Once, Drill Twice?

So long story short here, when drilling for oil directly over the top of a massive salt mine, check, double check, re-check, then check your drilling coordinates again. “The drilling crew watched in horror as their 150 foot derrick completely disappears into less than 10 feet of water…” was particularly jaw dropping. What a crappy way to learn a lesson 😀

    I remember hearing about this event as a child in South Louisiana.
    Even today, old salt domes and in danger of collapse. Currently there is one that has caused a huge sink hole near Bayou Corne
