Hey,
When trying to create a new piping model, we are all getting this error... "Document ID is NULL"
1711
Anyone know what the cause of this please?
Thanks,
Seán

Sean,
I assume you are creating this file with Document Manager - if not then this may not be helpful. When you create the document in DM, it adds a record to the doc_reg table of the project database that has a unique ID (UID). If it fails doing this I think you may get the error you are seeing (however, I have never had this error). If this was happening to me I would ensure that I have full rights to the database and see if the record was in the doc_reg table. If it is not it may be this error. What version of AutoPlant and Windows are you running?

Thanks for the reply Zortar. I think you are right and it has something to do with doc_reg table. For some reason its working again this morning so I can create models again! (and I didn't do anything!)
The only abnormal thing I did yesterday that could have caused it is export a model, that was created in the wrong sub-project, into the right one of the same model name. So perhaps there was a conflict!? I had done everything correctly though (or so I thought) i.e. use doc manager to create and delete models and export/import using pxf.
It sorted itself anyway! I'm using Autoplant V8i and windows 7.
Thanks again

Rather than using DM for Import/Export between projects you should use Relationship Manager. This is a much better method for doing these functions and will retain and switch the necessary info between projects.
