Symbols and Layers

What I'm trying to do is place an already created symbol onto a specific layer. So say you have a "circle.sym" file and when in smartsketch you drag and drop it onto a document. That symbol file wouldn't go onto the "default" layer it would drop (and create) onto the layer "circles".

Intergraph said to use "Honor Layer Display" under the Symbol Properties for symbol authoring, but I can't get it to work like they instructed.

Any ideas?

So your asking the prog to create a layer based up the layer you created during symbol creation? I just tried that, and it didn't work. That would be cool if that would work.

I can get it to create a layer based upon the layer created during symbol creation, but I can't get the symbol to be placed onto that newly created layer. It stays on the default layer.

Apparently this problem was fixed in ver5.2. So you can place a current symbol on the layer it was created correctly. Crap.
