Anyone have any insight on this?

Does Bentley ever make a change document readily available?

Check :

al users should receive a mail about this.

The main changes in this version is support vor AutoCAD 2007 and 2008, and some bug fixes, no new functionality.

We here are still working with v8.6. I would like to move us onto XM, but I haven't got the time to figure out what it takes to migrate the databases as well as upgrade all the people I'm supporting.

Peter- do you have any useful documentation for this?

In addition, Corporate is working on deciding what platform to use for the future... it may not be Autoplant at all.

It was cake for us. You can leave 8.6 installed when installing XM, but there is no reason to. It's a simple uninstall, install setup. It's super easy and XM is a decent amount better than 8.6. I've been on XM for a couple of month and don't have many complaints. I did find a few bugs they had to fix, but they are fixed in the update that was just released. Here is what I know is fixed on the recent update:

Compatible with AutoCAD 2008
&
ARX file is fixed (it was causing the program to act in demo mode)

there is a nice new function in XM that alerts you about changes when opening a drawing (if the database value of an attribute has changed). You get the option to accept/reject changes.
This function needs to be 'triggered'. I'll post the details later.

on my new laptop I first installed XM and the 8.6, they run perfect side-by side.

Oh about something Peter was saying. In XM, if you use Assembly Manager much, if you bring something over from another project with different fields, it will also notify you about the change. It's kind of nice to know.

so it will notify you of the fact the fields don't exist and then error out or keep going or create the fields for you?

Well Gents,

I guess I am one of the unlucky ones. I can't get the XM or 2004 to install properly for the last few days. Been working with Ron and he is scratching his head so hard I think I am causing him to go bald :)

I have AutoCAD Mechanical 2007 and 2004 both installed on my PC. Ron is wondering maybe ME is casuing some problems. But I can't even get Project Admin to fire.

Forgot to mention I have a fresh machine. A Dell Precision 690.

I've had the same problem on two computers, with no obvious reason after an install both versions didn't work. I tried a lot of solutions but only a reinstall of the complete windows system seemed to work.

I had the feeling that is what we may have to do. I am havin probelms with some Microsoft Office products anyways.

Did you have your IT depsartment unistall windows or just a repair?

Going try and install on another Dell 690 will let you all know how it goes.

Any of you gents have AutoCAD Mechanical 2007 installed?

Update

Have loaded ACAD 2004 and appid08090305en on the other machine no problems. Everything worked flawless. I have a call into IT here to do whatever it takes to get my machine up and running again.

HybridAWD,

Any problems with ACAD Mech 08. I have it sitting here in the box but have not even open it yet. Is it worth loading '08 instead of '07 ACAD ME ??

I should be getting my PC back today with a fresh install of windows etc. I would like to load the lastest and greatest if things are running smoothly for you all.

Thanks All

Doesn't seem to be any issues so far. Work has been a little slow lately so I haven't really had too much involvement in the P&ID's. There will always be some kind of bug somewhere, it's just a matter of time on when and where we find it.

Have received my PC so my plans are load 2004 ACAD and AutoPlant 2004 for a project I am working on now.

Then I will load up ACAD 2008 ME and XM and try it out on a newer project. Once satisfied I will upgrade the older projects as they come back in.

Is this a good plan?

Thanks

When installing XM and you have 2008 ACAD ME it uses the <<ACADMPP>> profile.

How do I have XM load just the Vanilla/Unnamed profile instead of the ACAD ME profile?

When I fire up P&ID is locks up after it loads the ME toolbars.

How can I have it just load straight ACAD 2008?

Thanks
