Access to SQL

Im wondering if anyone has been able to convert an Access based project into a SQL DB other than using project packager. We have a sub contract company wanting to do this since they have so many people working on 1 project but are afraid of creating some issues.

If we use project packager will it retain the connectivity between XREFS and 3d models after unpackaging?
