Hi,

When a control valve is placed for the first time onto a line, the user is asked to pick a fail position (FO=Fail Open, FC=Fail Closed, FI=Fail Indeterminate, FL=Fail Locked) by clicking a radio button in an Actuator Failure Mode dialog.
This fail position is then shown graphically as an arrow or a dash on a control valve stem or if the fail mode attribute is enabled, the text (FO, FC, FI, FC) is also displayed.

If the user wants to change the position of the control valve after it has been placed, the fail mode can be changed through using "CATT" on the control valve.
How can the valve stem graphic be changed automatically to reflect a new control valve fail mode?
Is there a way of calling up the Actuator Failure Mode dialog again?

Thanks.

Hi pop, welcome to the forum!

Check the screenshots below. Do you have different Actuator graphics that depend on the fail position of the Control Valve or were you just asking how to replace the topworks and fail position? Do the SS's answer your question or did you know about that already? We do not use special symbology other than the "FO" "FC" found in the "Fail Position" text box of the Control Valve dialog box. Let me know - thanks!
