Is there a way to set up the datasheet program so that the data defaults to only flowing from the database to the datasheet, with no option of going the other way?

not that I know, but it should be an interesting feature. You could use the batch-upgrade on a regular basis to enforce the datasheets to reflect the database.

At this stage in the development of our use of the software, this would help us conform to the KISS principle. Some of our users get confused with that update dialog box. We also want to make sure the the database is the primary source of data...

I wonder if I could just disable a control on a dialog somehow.

The other thing that came up was if there was any problems with locking all of the cells in the excel files except for the ones we want the engineers to be able to update manually.

How many users? Is training them out of the question?

ask Bentley for a 'change request' ...

Training is not out of the question, but we are sort of in a strange position right now with too much work to do and not enough resources to get it all done. We are hiring engineers left and right, and I need to get my act together and get organized. Spending money on Autoplant is also up in the air with people way above me making decisions on what type of design systems we are going to be using in the future...
