Once of our clients has a problem with his pipe erasing when he inserts a Straight Tee in the middle of the pipe. This only occurrs when the pipe is placed at the following coordinates
Coordinate:
Pipe end 1 coordinates: X = 6450673 Y = 48106000 Z = 0
Pipe end 2 coordinates: X = 6461258 Y = 48116585 Z = 0

The pipe is at a 45 DEG angle.

This is what the pipe is supposed to look like

This is what happens when the Tee is inserted. The rest of the pipe erases.

has anyone seen this problem before?
Thanks,

Interesting problem! Are you using AP2004?
I am not sure but after upgrading to XM, I never had this problem.

Has the pipe truely been erased, or is this a display issue?

I am using AP XM 8.9.3.

The pipe has been erased.

This is what is confusing me. If I moved the pipe back to 0 DEG angle, the pipe doesn't dissapear when inserting the tee.

You may want to check your slope tolerance setting. I had a similar problem when trying to place pipe between to elbows that were off line.

My guess, and this is only a guess, is that the UCS is on a different plane to the pipe. When you do an insert into the run, a segment needs to be erased to make room for the tee. If the pipe is at an angle and the equivalent of an erase window is done, perhaps it is picking up enough of the segment to erase it.

Just a thought....

I tested it out in a blank model and came up with the same problem. I have heard that AutoCAD has problems with some operations at extreme coordinates. My guess is that this is one of those situations. When I move that same piece of pipe down so that the lower left end (Pipe end 1 - from above) is at 0,0,0 then it works fine.

thank you everyone for your help. I am pretty sure that it was the AutoCAD coordinates issue. I told the EPC to not insert the Tee into the pipe length, as a workaround
