how soon after the release are you going to upgrade?
when release?
I heard end of this year. Tom (Packin31) said he heard at the user conference that it was going to be more like February/March 07.

If I knew what it was, then I could make a better decision...

It's the next release of Autoplant. It is going to be called Autoplant XM. Supposedly big changes are on the way. It will also support Autocad 2007.

It was originally supposed to be released this October, but according to Bentley, was pushed back a couple of months in order to ensure that it was compatible with AutoCAD 2007.
I did read somewhere that the 3D piping package is both Plantspace and Autoplant - it will be called Bentley Piping and users will have an option of whether or not they want to use the Plantspace interface or Autoplant interface. It wasn't explained any further than that, so your guess is as good as mine as to how it will actually play out.
They are hoping for a release by Christmas, but I'm not holding my breath.
When will we implement it? Only after I have fully tested it and proven that it will not cause problems with projects already underway. If it is a drastic change, I will probably wait until a 2nd release comes out.
I am anxious to be able to deploy AutoCAD 2007 within our drafting dept. I have it on my workstation and am excited about the work they put into developing the 3D end. Makes me wish I had time to do some modeling again :-(
According to Rich scotti's video presentation, Autocad 2007 will not be supported until SP1 of the Autoplant XM release. The SP1 is slated for 6 months after the release of the XM version. Check the attachment.

The first version of XM will be followed by an update version six months after release from what I have heard. Not sure how true that is.
soooo, is it the end October, December, I mean end of February yet? Anyone heard when the next vapor release date is?

Big day. I just noticed the downloads on the SELECT site for:
Bentley Process & Instrumentation XM Edition
Bentley AutoPLANT Plant Design XM Edition
Bentley AutoPLANT P&ID XM Edition
So who's going to be the daring first????

I'm right next to you. Already downloaded. I'm offsite ... so it'll give me something to do at the hotel at night.
Good luck.
