A utility like the Change tag type except for changing a drawing name. I would bet one exists.

oh yeah? You mean you don't have to go into data manager, change the values in the doc_reg table and then change the .dwg name in windows explorer? I will check it out, thanks Monkey

Simple as double clicking in the proper fields and naming it whatever you want.

in Data Manager? Yeah that's what we normally do however it would be easier to have a "Select Drawing" --> "New Drawing Number" ---> Enter

NO I am speaking of Vision. there is a properties tab there that you can control access to and either limit who can change drawing numbers or let anyone (users) have the right to make these changes. Vision then write to the Doc_reg and all other tables that are affected to make the proper changes. VERY EASY.

You can change name of a file in 2004 Document Manager. I know in an older version it was locked.

Well it seems to have been locked again in version 2006, so either Vision or Project Object Maintenance Tool would do the trick.
