I know the linked data is live but, should the client decide to revise say a valve model, forcing a large overall size. (I know that never happens). how does the program alert the modeller that the component has changed. once inserted into the model the data reflects the revised information however the phycial size will not be corrected.
the catalouge would have to be revised to allow for the new valve to be placed. and at that time they can advise the modeller of the change, but I would like to see something to alert the modeller until they can re-inseert the revised component. major pressure on a large project to keep everybody informed when items are changing often.

although I somewhat agree with your idea I would say that the problem you describe is fairly easily controled with a strict revision control system. The Client nor anyone else had better make any changes to anything without it first going on a PID the reviewed then implemented once approved. Rev control even on large scale projects is possible. However in principle I would agree that some form of nitifictaion to the end user would be nice just as ionformation.
