To what existent of detail does your company go into for Equipment Modeling?

was there any layers turned off?
Yeah I hid some of that building, I didn't get to turn it all off though. The file takes 3 hours to open, and 3 more to render so I don't get to many chances. :)

I am probaly guessing Autodesk's Viz Studio.
That is the way I used to do it.
Yeah accually using 3D studio max. I am finding however that if I take the model and then build the plant again using 3ds max's native geometry that it reduces the files size by 1/5 or it's imported size and render times by about the same.

wow that is a good reduction in file size. How are you doing Animations?
Are you encoding to native AVI or are you using a specific codec?
No animations yet, if I do though I will render out to AVI (HUGE) then use Vegas or Premiere for compression. I would use DivX cept most people (clients) don't have it installed I'm sure. ;) What do you use?

we would write out the raw AVI then we would re-code it to wmv file
for our clients
cool, what did you use to render it out? Viz?
