Hi Dave,

I am at home getting caught up on work stuff shame on me.

Is this a structural drawing if so did the user do a purge on the drawing without the structural application fired up?

Hi Tom, welcome back. I didn't. I posted this for the guy but he has since signed up and should be following up soon. I will check in with him today. Thanks man.

Boy, do I know this one!!! The "invalid shape reference" is because work has been done using the Structural module - which is add-on software from KiwiSoft. It is known to be problematic within AutoPLANT and Bentley doesn't support it. The solution we have found is to either run a ton of purges, or to do a file > restore. The latter solution seems to work most often. I would be interested to hear if others have a better solution than our "quick-fix".

I have ran across this problem many times.. and there is a solution to this.. In your model load Structural .. start the program and pick Structural Options in the menu and then check on Remove References on Purge.
Type purge now and you will get "Delete redundent Shape References? [Yes/NO] <N> Pick Yes
Save Model
Reopen .. problem solved.

This can also happen if the model containing Structural elements is opened on a workstation that has Structural Object Enabler 2004 v8.6 or AutoPLANT Structural 8.6 but it has previously been opened and saved on a workstation that has Structural Object Enabler 2004 v8.7. The v8.7 enabler seems to 'upgrade' the shapes, making them unreadable by v8.6 and giving you an 'invalid shape reference' message. If you open the model in AutoPLANT Structural 8.7 it will appear fine.

Im getting this message and we don't use structural at all.

The model opens just fine on all of the stations except one.

The problem box had 3D Civil and Land Development enablers installed.

I uninstalled these, but the problem persists.

Any Clues?
