Please somebody help me. I'm confused about the stream table in the database. What is it used for? Are the streams supposed to represent streams on a PFD? Can these streams populate the linelist (ie: multiple lines are populated from one stream). I have lots of questions.
Thanks,
Bill
Bill, if no one answers your post by the morning, hit up a member of the krew in the chat window on the right hand side of the screen -->

Good Morning Bill,
First off I would like to welcome you aboard.
I am not familiar with using that table myself but hopefully someone with some knowledge of using it will chime in for you.

Good Morning Bill,
WE need a little more information if possible. Like which of the databases is this table located, what program are you using and what is your end result.
Looking forward to helping you this morning

The STREAM table in AutoPlant is used by the P&ID software. It contains process information for a line; the kind of information you would find in a linelist (oper. pressure, liquid density, etc.). The stream is associated with the line number through the PROCESS table. This is all documented in the ER Diagram XM.PDF file in your ...\Plant XM\Help folder.

JHarris,
Your last entry seems to have clarified it. I have used the stream entry before but modified it so it was stream values from the PFDs applied to a piperun instead of a process. This was done since streams usually do not cover multiple flow paths as piperuns do. I also needed to change the stream table to have the distinct fields I was populating instead of the generic ones in the table by default. Not very many people use the stream definition within P&ID. I needed to because the stream values were required for data transfer onto the instrumentation datasheets.
Let me know if you have any issues.
Cheers,
Ed

Thanks for the quick response everyone. Glad to see there are others out there who have shared my pain. If I understand this correctly, I’m trying to do exactly what Ed has done. Use the stream table to represent streams from the PFD, which can then be used to populate the linelist & datasheets. How did you get the stream values (press, temp, etc) applied to the pipe runs? Did the instrumentation datasheet pull data from the pipe runs or directly from the stream table? I was able to get information into the stream table by using the stream manager with the p&id but that’s about as far as I got.
Thanks again.

I had to do some extreme customization. Requires changing relations in the system views for piperuns, process, and all instrument views. You also need to change the piperun table and add the streamid and stream condition id fields. Unless you are an advanced admin I would not recommend it. There are limits to how many fields can be selected for the system views and if you are not careful it will make the system view invalid. Any of the streams values were imported directly into the database from an outside utility I developed. It was a large project with over 4700 streams across some 18000 piperuns. The instruments needed to have a piperun association which can be done within P&ID using the reattach function. The stream data would then transfer to the instrument datasheet automatically through the relation of stream to piperun piperun to instrument.
