Hello ,

I'm new in this forum !! I'm a Fresh graduate from EPFL , and I'm about to form a Start up organization in next few months with this aim : to design and construct Plant in Process and Power generation domain.
Basically we want to start as a outsource design firm lately, when we will grow up we want to create a full swing in house Plant Engineering firm.
In this consequence , could you please let me : some ideas , like wise :
What would the best option to start with : Plant 3D /P&ID / stress analysis etc. ?
Which vendor's software would better for :
P&ID , Plant 3D ( such as Smart Plant /Auto Plant /PDMS/AutoCAD)?
What's is normal process of large EPC's outsource design works?
How much should we earn / hour or even Project wise?
License fees of :( Single/Network)
Smart Plant Enterprise edition
Auto Plant Bentley
Auto CAD Plant 3D
PDMS etc.
How could we train fresh graduates to be familiar with Plant Design works ?

Appreciate your valuable advice , to makes my dreams into reality.

Thanks ,
Andrew , EPFL
Lausanne , Switzerland

Hi Andrew,

I better suggest to first have 3-4 years of experience in any EPC design firm, then it would be much easier to start up such business/ organization. Otherwise it could be a big risk without knowing the market demands, the projects philosophy and execution procedures.

I agree here. Having some real world successes will greatly increase your chances of landing work. If you're fortunate enough to find someone willing to "take a chance" on a young guy fresh out of school then more power to you. Let us know how it goes for you!
