I'm looking for something in print that state how to determine the proper setback on a slip on flange.
Bentley's catalogs from what I can determine use the standard wall thickness plus 1/16 of an inch. how ever a couple piping users groups answered wall thk plus 1/8 of an inch.
unless I can find an overridding answer I beleive I will default to the out of box wall thk + 1/16 when I update my catalogs.

ASME B16.5 doesn't specify this value but ASME B31.3 does and it says the setback isn't that simple. It is the raised face thickness PLUS the wall thickness UP TO 1/4" maximum. See the above illustration. Since 150# and 300# flanges have a 1/16" raised face and higher ratings have a 1/8" raised face this might account for the confusion out there whether the setback is 1/16" or 1/18".

thanks thats what I was hoping to get a asme standard to follow. I was even thinking of buying the pipe fitter handbook to try to get better information.
