Anyone using both ProSteel XM and ProSteel V8i on the same Project/Documents ?

Just wondering how/if they work together ?

Thanks
Brent

I think when you open it in V8i it upgrades the drawing. I don't think you can then open it in XM.

Pretty sure JH has it right. Prosteel is notorious for random upgrades of drawings. Once you open a dwg in a version ahead it autoconverts it and renders it virtually useless I have found

ProSteel does automatically upgrade Models when opened in a newer format. (Found that out the hard way ....ahh...those were the days)

Also because V8i doesn't use DBFs anymore...I believe an older version model will have to be imported in order to be modified in V8i.

As long as you don't accidentally open an XM model with v8i your good. But it will update your model if you do. They are supposed to be able to coexist on the same machine as they are installed in different folders. Just make sure to always launch the program with the correct icon.

Its actually the prosteel object enabler that does the "upgrade". So with that being said, don't install the object enabler for prosteel V8i either.

Man of Steel,
Normally an install such as PS V8i will install its OE into AutoCAD when it is installed. Wouldn't it stand to reason that if you installed V8i last on a machine that it would now be the dominant OE and would be used every time AutoCAD was opened, even if using XM and therefor upgrade the drawing either way? Just curious...
