No, not that kind of an itch, but an itch about when I should upgrade my software. Any ideas????????????

I am usually pretty skeptical about upgrades to the latest and greatest at release time. Generally, the people who write the software don't put it through the ringer before release thus forcing the users of the software to "beta" test it and find the bugs that will get fixed in the next patch or full release.

Currently, I am using AutoPlant 8.6 with AutoCAD 2005 with little or no trouble. What are you using?

I was using 8.6 and 2005 but recently switched to XM and 2007.
Biggest shock i got when i found that Navigator does not support 2007.
And if we switch to XM we have to Switch to navigator also as per bentley.
Then graphic enabler etc issue will come up again with new version.............

We're looking at the upgrade path as well. Currently we have 8.6 and Acad 2002(!)... We are thinking of making the leap to XM and 2008, at least on the 2D side...

There's a lot of things to think about though - what database to use, the structure of the projects (we have separate projects for the 2D vs 3D), etc.

just another thought for you is that the switch to ACAD 2008 could be a shocker to you. No longer will you be able to use the normal menu files but rather these new .CUI files these in themselves are a pain in the butt with APlant. We have not switched to XM yet or upgraded from 2004 for this very reason. amoung others

I'm not too worried about CUI files... What I'm trying to do is to move the the upgrade as far forward as possible, if that makes sense. If I have to upgrade (and I want to), let's upgrade to the most recent version, instead of doing the 2007-2008 two step.

Can you elaborate further on what you mean when you say they are a pain with Aplant?

what I am trying and not very well I might add is descibe the problem we have iwth CUI's. ACAD 2006 and above uses these istead of .mnu files. XM is structured to handle this but other versions are not. A workspace needs to be configured specifically for AP, simular to the old user profile. We have struggled with this as we have not upgraded to XM yet so 8.6 does not work well with the .cui files.

hope this helped, but now I am totoally confused :)

you have the option to continue using the mnu file and converting it to cui after a change ...

I thought support for Autocad 2008 and XM wasn't going to be availibe to the spring of 08'. I didn't know they are good to go yet.

Yup, Bentley released version XM PLANT 8.9.3.3 (3D) 11/20/07. This version supports ACAD 08. I don't deal with the 2D side much so i don't know if there is a version that supports 08 or not.

there is a 2D version for acad 2008, released in August 2007
