Is there any way where I can see the exact path of that symbol when I click on a particular symbol in the drawing? For example when I click on a Ball valve it should show me the exact path where the symbol lies (Piping - Valves - 2 Way Common - Ball Valves):D

Hello ronaldo81,

In the EDE, add the property "FileName" in the columns to show of the pipingcomponent for example.

Exactly what I am asking is when I click on a piping component (for example on a Gate valve) the property window pops up but it does not show exactly the location where the symbol lies in the Catalog Explorer. Whenever I am doing a search operation in the Catalog Explorer (for a Gate valve) the search query would not show me the exact path where the symbol lies in the Catalog Explorer). I am a user of Smartplant P&ID 2007 (05.01.05.12 Service Pack 5).
There is no field starting with "FileName" but there is a field with "Name" in the properties window which is always blank when I click on any component. However, there are two fields "Piping Component Type" which displays that it is a Gate Valve and another field "Plant Item Type" which displays that it is a Piping Component.

Sorry, the property is not "FileName". It's the display name I have in my EDE.
I don't remember the exact word (not in my office, perhaps "SymFileName", have a look) but I'm sure there is a property that shows you the path of the symbol in the EDE, not in the property window.
