I work for a small Engineering Consulting firm. We use Bentley for projects for customers but given the size of our company there is no way they are going to spend money training me (us). I work in the 2-D P&ID area and dabble in project setup, Data Manager, P&ID drawings, etc. I don't mind spending my own time upgrading my skills but seem to run into road blocks wherever I turn when it comes to Bentley documentation. I have read many times that "the information is in the help files" and that people learn by "trial and error" but darn it all the help files stink and learning by trial and error when working on a project is just plain asking for trouble. Pete Jansoone in response to question lists two documents "2D Plant Project Configuration" and AutoPLANT P&ID Customization". I log into the Bentley website and search for a couple of hours and can't find them. Is there not a document or documents for P&ID, Data Manager and Project Administrator that lays out the structure of the software (files) with the purpose of each, where some common things are found lie the (AsiRegenUpdateMode) and most of all how to clean up a drawing when it gets problems? OK enough venting. I could use some help on finding documentation. I (gasp) would even spend $$$ to get it. Thanks for any help you can give me.

the documents you are refering to are the workbooks you are given when you undertake the bentley training.
the training is expensive $$ and the workbooks excellent (but not available on the bentley site for free download).
i would recommend the training as money well spent if nearby where you work, and willing to spend $$$ to get it.
also bear in mind the copyright notice plastered all over their literature when asking for help as training is a big income
earner for bentley

Rammer, we can set up training here for a fraction of the cost that a vendor would charge you. If you are interested send me an email to dave@davetyner.com.
