We have a customer that needs the 3d models. I made ACIS objects out of the two piping models and xrefed one into the other and did a bind no problem. I xref the structural then go to bind I get a fatal error. I also tried wblock then explode and same thing fatal error. I have run into this before but can't find the answer.
Has anyone run into this problem? If so what is the cure all
Thanks

Okay what I did was xrefed the ACIS drawing into the steel drawing bind no problems.
Still wonder why I can't do it the other way around?
The customer we are sending this to is going to be importing this into Microstation V7 I know I will probally have to send them a dxf file but will they be able to see the Steel and Pipe?
Hey Tom, I had that same problem a week ago. Make sure you have the same version of structural as your designers

We have a customer that needs the piping and structural model. I have converted the piping model to ACIS but how do I go about converting the Steel. I have sent them a dxf with all components in one model but they can't see the steel in V7 and in straight AutoCAD they get the proxy graphics message.
What do I need to do in order for them to open the drawing in V7.
Thanks

do you have the correct object enabler?? What version is the steel drawing and was in created in Autoplant or ProSteel. I ran into a similar situation with steel drawings that were created in ProSteel3D. They have a later revision to their object enabler that is not compatable with the Version 7 enabler for Autoplant

Steve,
It was created in AutoPLANT.
If they had the latest version of Microstation would they be able to see the steel then or do we need to send them the enabler?

You will always need the enabler to view Autoplant objects.
well, that's not exactly been my experience. I have outlined a procedure where you do not need it here - http://www.davetyner.com/forum/showthread.php?t=754

but it that post you talked about object enablers too.
indeed, OE's are the way to go. We had a client that wanted a work-around b/c they were afraid to install anything "foreign" thier system. So that's what I came up with.

Clients are always bad that way

Answer from Bentley’s forum
Use the command "ps_create_acis" in AutoPLANT structural. This will create a acis solid model.
Thanks all for your input
