If you go to P&ID --> Preferences --> Link and Regen options

If you change update mode from Automatic to Manual, you could be causing some major issues. Ok to some maybe this is clear as day but here go anyways:

If you change it from Automatic to manual and delete items. It will delete the graphics however it will not delete the tags out of the DB. Why you would even want this as an option... I have no clue.

So as a heads up, I highly don't recommend changing this setting. If someone has some input as to why you would... please chime in.

There's also an 'update now' button that will commit the drawing changes to the database.
Some commands in the soft have been implemented on demand of some clients (you'd be amazed what you can achieve from Bentley if you buy a LOT of seats ;-) ) and are used by no-one else. I think this is one of them, though I sometimes use it in debugging situations.
Other examples are the STREAMS and the 'replicate tag' functions.

Well keep in mind the update now didn't work for me after saving and closing the drawing, then reopening.

How do you use something that deletes a graphic and leaves the tag information in the DB to debug?

I used to use it if a drawing would "die" when automatically regen'ing when I opened it. If I turned regen off, I could troubleshoot the drawing.

Jus t kidding, but sometimes clients pay part of a development that is important from them. Bentley pays the other part if we can put the new stuff in a next release, or are able to sell it to others. Remember that the free stuff I've posted here has been payed for by someone at some time ...
