Hello,
I am new to AutoPlant P&ID, and trying to customize the toolbars.
I succeded to customize the existing toolbars by adding new commands (with existing, less used icons).
The toolbars seem to work well after customizing.
However, after closing the AutoPlant, when I restart it, all new commands are gone.
Could you please advise:
1. How can I get the customized toolbars be saved and reappear when starting AutoPlant P&ID?
2. How can I create new toolbars? (I tried dragging commands from Customize User Interface window
into the drawing area but it doesn't work).
Thank you for your help.

in V8i, AutoPLANT P&ID always re-compile the old pid.mnu file into the new CUI format, overwriting any changes done in the CUI tool. If you want to add commands, do so in the pid.mnu inthe old way, or add a new cui(x) menu with only your personalized toolbars.

Thank you Peter for your response.
Could you please extend a little and advise how to add commands in the pid.mnu
or cui(x) menu?

I create a MyMenu.cui for all of our AutoCAD user's so they can customize their commands and whatever they need to do. I have attached it to this e-mail but you will have to change the file extension from .TXT to .CUI. The system does not allow files with CUI to be attached. You can save this to your personal drive and load and then modify however you want and what you do should still be there.

I just joined the group about 20 minutes ago and I hope my posting and attaching a file with the extension changed will not get me in trouble. I just discovered this forum at AU and I sure wish I could have been a part of Project X. That was AWESOME! Hope this helps you.

3D jack. Welcome. I am one of the Krusty Krew and I can assure you that posting anything here will not get you in any trouble as long as it is relevant and not insulting.

Thanks very much for the contribution of the cui. Hope to see you here a lot. And thanks for the props on Project X

Thank you for the warm welcomes. I do intend to visit on a somewhat regular basis. Having HOT wings with another Krusty Krew member on Thursday, Aaron Werning. Sure would have been a ball to work on Project X. I got nicknamed 3DJack about 10 years ago because of my skills at 3D which I absolutely love to do. I have lost of custom programs I have written over the years to make it even eaiser. I use 4 paperspace viewports when I do 3D and it is so much easier than working with the tiled AutoCAD viewports. Hoping to find another job where I can work in 3D instead of the CAD guru who fixes everyone's screwups. Thanks again and take care, 3DJack.

It may also be worth exploring the power of using the Customization Files feature found in the Options menu in AutoCAD (Options > Files tab > Customization Files). For our AutoCAD 2006 + XM users we have set up a series of CUI files to address a variety of issues. Some of those CUI files we allow the users to edit, and others we want protected. The basic concept is that CUIs loaded in the 'Main Customization File' can be edited by the users, whereas CUIs loaded under the 'Enterprise Customization File' can't be changed by users. I'm not currently supporting AutoPLANT P&ID so I can't say how it'll all come together from that standpoint, but we have been running great with AutoPLANT Piping, Equipment and ProSteel using that philosophy.

3DJack, thank you for your response and cui file.
As I am using AutoPlant installed on top of AutoCAD 2011, what is the procedure to follow
with this .cui file?
Thank you for your understanding,
