What we have here is some added symbols to the P&ID.slb file in XM. I have copied over this same file to the V8i support directory but it does not see the symbols that where created in XM.

Is there another Slide library that V8i reads that I am not aware of?

I have attach the slide library but had to change the extension to txt in order to attach it.

Also screen captures of XM and V8i dialogs to show you the differences.

Tomm,

this is due to the changes that BE has done in AP V8i with respect to the upgrades in Window 7 environment with how the folder and file structure works. I have attached two files , one that outlines how to upgrade a .dll to the v8i version and the other on what to do to handle the custom dll's and where to place the new files.

although I know you say that you have these docs and have followed them I will reassure you that you have likley missed a step as i had the exact same problem and it is now fixed.

my biggest mistake was to NOT unregister the .dll that is here C:\Program Files\Common Files\Bentley Shared\Plant V8i

or delete it all together otherwise SS2 will continue to read that one.. Also be sure to follow the steps in the Be document carefully. These steps will need to be done on EVERY PID machine unfortunately

Hello Brian,

I am a bit confused does the rebcompdlgs.dll read the P&ID.slb (aka a ACAD Slide Library)?

If I open the P&ID slide library in a slide library tool I can see the slides that we have added.

Maybe I am missing a step here in V8i of how it reads the slides?

Yes I have set my machine and the P&ID designers machine up according the docs you posted.

Tom, i might be off in left field here but see if the RebcompDlgs.dll file in your Project Standards folder matches the one locally, as I believe they have to match.

Yes they do both match.

I found our problem. There was one more file that I had forgot about. It is the P&ID.MNU file. Which we all know in 2008 and above it went to cui and now in 2010 it is cuix.

To fix the issue I opened a P&ID unload the P&ID.CUIX and reloaded the old P&ID.MNU (which recompiled the cuix) check few of our custom symbols and they are there now.

This bugged me all weekend until my drive in this morning I am like I need to check the actual MNU file and yep there is was all there.

Another thing I found is that one can not edit the CUIX file with note pad. Is the only way to edit CUIX file is by opening ACAD and adding toolbars etc?

Hey Tomm,

Glad it is now working for you. I thought of what you had said but figured it was certainly the set up with respect to the .dll.

As for accessing a cuix. you can also unzip it to access it. the cuix file is a zipped up version of a cui and can be accesssed through a zip program. BE CAREFUL though.
