Glitch in the selection steps in Workspace explorer or is there something I'm missing

Another post but something that at least at my company has been buggin everyone.

nNormally when you select items within the workspace explorer you would need to press shift or ctrl to select multiple objects. What we are noticing is that sometimes the program seems to get into some advanced selection mode where in you don't have to hold down shift or ctrl. The selection mode allows you to select multiple objects just by clicking on them. Clicking the object again deselects it from the selection list. This would be great if we knew what caused the advanced selection mode to occur or how to stop it but nothing we've tried has worked. The help files seem to talk about a selecting items during the smartstep of a command but go no further then to give a name and cancelling the command has no effect. It seems that after a while things just go back to normal. Anyone know what I'm talking about or have figured out how to toggle between normal selection(holding shift/ctrl selects multiple items) and the advanced selection(no need for shift or ctrl)?

It's bugging the tar out of everyone here.

hay I tried lot of things
But for selection option availables in SP3D are
1)select all- CTrl-A
2)CTRl/Shift
3)Select by Filter
4)Right click option Select Nested
There is no other option available


Take this in funny way
1)Problem in ur CTRL/Shift Buttons (Replace KEyBOard)
2)Compuer mouse may need advanced tab which functioning CTRL/Shift

Thanks for the input Chin but it's not isolated to myself. It's a company wide selection problem. I was just seeing if anyone else had this problem

With out a more detailed explanation from you as to when your seeing this alternate selection functionality its hard to trouble shoot.

Off the top of my head, placing a pipe support that requires allows or requires multiple inputs would not need the ctrl key to be held. I.E. a pickup support where one or more smaller pipes are supported off of a larger pipe.

Selecting any items without a command active from the WorkSpace Explorer or graphically would require the ctrl or shift key to be held.

It happens almost randomly. I will admit that it seems to occur during a command but after cancellation of that command the multiselection is still active. Like I stated before it seems to occure randomly and I have noticed that one command makes this happen over another. I'll be clicking along and then notice that it has changed. Once in the multiselction mode a right click will not open a sub menu it will simply deselect your selection.

What version of software (including which Hotfix) are you using?

I'm on 08.00.72.0049, which is v2009 SP1 HF21, your on the same version just on HF24.

It is a possiblity that what you see has been introduced in one of the later Hotfixes. However before we assume that, over the next few days, if you could attempt to make notes of what command you are in or what you were attempting to do when this happens. When I get back on Monday I can test the same workflow to make sure this isn't just something that I've become accustomed to.

Have you tried with Reinstall the software??
What about your RAM and Graphics Card?
Also try this which might be useful
1.Open the registry and select RenderFlags from HKEY-LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Intergraph\SP3D\Core\..

2.Right click on RenderFlags add a new String value and rename it as ForceFullUpdate
3.Right click and select Modify and set the value to 1.

Jain although I appreciate the ideas I know this problem isn't isolated to just my machine. Everyone (at least here at my company) has noticed the little glitch but no one can pinpoint it.

I will try and log when the glitch occurs and see if it can be duplicated.

Something i did notice yesterday is that the when this happens the color of the selected items will change. Normally if you click on an item in workspace explorere it will be red. Bute when this glitch happens the selection set will turn grey..
