I am having some trouble with my reports. I have to set up a view called "Line List - Filtered" to filter the line #'s down to only show one run. I do this by editing the view > design with access > enable SUM > "first of" This works and shows me what I need to see. I know there must be a better way. How do you guys "turn off" showing multiple tag_no's in your reports?

Ah, but which run do you get in your view/report? We have decided that we need the largest run size to be in the line list.

Whatever they decide. That's more for the engineer to decide when he's marking it up. We use the PSZ_NOM and PSPEC_NOM fields to "dumb" in line size and spec. My question was more about how you eliminate duplicates in your report without creating a special view ;) Thanks!

one of the things we have our users do is to erase all terminators except for the very first and last instance of a line, that way you actually get jsut the from and to version of that line

what do you do if a line starts at a peice of equipment?

we would leave the terminator as that is the first instance of that line, as well we leave the terminator at the final end spot of that line as well, whether it ends at another line or a piece of equip. All other times we get rid of the terminator...ie runs or branches or by-passes, vents drains. For all these we erase the terminator. that will get rid of all duplication on your line list.

That's a pretty smart method. Thanks for sharing :!:

the reality is that those terminators serve no purpose other than to generate a line list, so why put them on lines that you have no need of reporting.
