Has anyone ever run a project with spec validation ON?

if so how did it go?

I have not, what's it supposed to do?

Similar to Piping it will only allow you to place valves and such if they exist in the Spec. You would obviously have to build a very accurate spec first ( which is hard in itself) P&ID's are usually a lot more flexible than Piping drawings. SpecValidation would create a much more accurate database but would require a lot more Admin.

welll, that's what we do. When we place a valve on a 2" 150# spec line, a window appears prompting us to pick one of the valves in that spec. Is that what you're talking about?

yes in fact it is.... assuming you are talking about P&ID not piping. It is a setting within PA when you first set up your project.

Well to be honest Brian I don't set up the specs, my boss (design team manager) does. The only thing I do when I create a drawing on a new project is to change the valve spec path in the P&ID. This points to the specs DB we have setup and gives us the prompt. It also retains that path for the project. There might be something in the PID-sup or another lisp routine that we run that calls that out as well. I will get back to you on this when I get a chance to talk to him.
