View Full Version : U-bolts not drawn correctly

After much searching I've reached a blank.

When placing u-bolt supports, the graphics do not represent what radius that is specified during placement. The issue is further exaggerated as the pipe size increases, drawing the u-bolt oversized for that pipe diameter. E.g. the centre-centre distance for au-bolt on a 200mm pipe should be 250mm but Autoplant draws it at 272mm, for a 600mm pipe it should be 642mm but Autoplant draws it at 756mm (see attached).

I've looked in to the SUPUBOLT.EBS, and it's looks like the dialogue generates a radius based on the pipe size * 0.52, but then autoplant draws it at a much bigger radius then what is specified in the dialogue.

Can anyone point me in the right direction on what needs to be set in the .ebs or if I need to change something in another file?

Cheers

I had noticed the same thing in imperial. it seemed that due to it calculating it from the pipe size, it doesn't match the real world dimensions. It has been about 2 years since i've messed with it, but if i remember correctly, the smaller sizes work relatively fine, but as you start getting over about 8" or 10" pipe, the formula for drawing the object doesn't apply accurately anymore.

exactly the issue we're experiencing. Becomes a pain when laying out parallel pipes on supports.

Attached is the response from Bentley.

To summarise, they are not planning to address this issue in the current release (series 2 in my case) unless it's beneficial to them to implement a change globally.

Poor show I feel. Surely this affects everyone.

i was thumbing though my old notes, do you notice the straight part of the u-bolts are not the correct length either?

Yes I have. Anyone else experiencing this issue?

Typical Bentley. They are likely hoping and watching this forum for someone to step up and solve their problem for them .... AGAIN
