anyone ever seen it where you have some items in a spec that are clearly available in the Spec Browser but for some reason unable to be placed via the normal button or pulldown options. Specifically Nipples.
if I place the item through Spec Browser it works fine but nothing if I go through the buttons or pulldowns

Thats an intersting one, I can't say I have seen that, unless it was user error, you know the ones, From Settings not From Connecting Component, wrong spec/size, but I can't see it being that.
All I can think of is that your Pipe Nipples have a different GTYPE (NIPP) or its not in the BASE module.
Picking from Spec Browser removes the issues of wrong spec/size/gtype/stype.
Picking from the menu runs AT_NIPPLE and reads the size/spec from the Preferences GTYPE = NIPP from PIPE table
I guess I'm no help but as you already know all of this, I hope it might prompt something at your end.
Good luck

when I run across those types of issues, the first thing I do is attempt to place the component in space. if it inserts then I start chasing connect types, spec, size and such as Ray said.

thanks fellas,
Ray unfortunately you are correct. I had already thought of those items and tried. For Anderun yes I can place it in space from Spec Browser, I can also attach it as needed. What I can't do is place it from the menus. Still an ongoing issue but at least the items can be placed. When I asked BE they told me it was impossible .... Ya Right!

Can you possibly attach your spec and designate which "special" items are causing trouble?

AP, I had this issue or something like it with fractional sizes on sc/sw elbows.
Try deleting the table from the spec and rebuilding.
