Mr. Shaan Hurley (@mrcadman), from Between the Lines blog (http://autodesk.blogs.com/between_the_lines/), has been testing out the Google+ hangout in the CAD community. Now Google has released the hangout API for developers as shown on their blog page (http://googleplusplatform.blogspot.com/2011/09/introducing-google-hangouts-api.html). I can't wait to see what some developers can come up with. I think the hangout could be used in the plant design community to help collaborate between company offices globally and/or consortium on projects. What do you think?

It's free, that's one big "plus" right there (pun intended) :) One big roadblock I see right now is the fact that the IT departments of many corporations are asked to block social networking sites.

It would be cool to see something with the digital plant design community here on DT.com. Like maybe a weekly "CAD Admin" hangout. Now that they have added screen sharing it can be used to host a tips and tricks session or even a webcast of some sort. No need to pay for WebEx or GoToMeeting.
